Donor Of The Month Kelsey Williams & The Keg Spirit Foundation

Our special donor for the month of January, is someone who knows a lot about giving back, despite her young age. Coming from a background in competitive gymnastics, (in which she competed at the National level), and taking part in the Super Achievers program in high school, and then earning her Bachelors in Business Administration from SFU, Kelsey Williams is a “go big or go home kind of girl”. Currently working for The Keg Steakhouse + Bar, she has not only embraced her employment duties in Operations with them, but has spear-headed and orchestrated an amazing program in the Lower Mainland called “Keggers Kare” -a program in which Keg staff are invited to volunteer at charitable events, and community initiatives designed to make the world a better place!

All of Kelsey’s great community commitment and energy was noticed by her employer, and through The Keg Spirit Foundation, she was recognized this past year with an honourable mention in their Chairman's Award program- which allowed her to direct a $1,000 donation to the charity of her choice. Set up in 2001 in honour of The Keg's 30th anniversary, The Keg Spirit Foundation honours the company's longstanding commitment to charitable giving. The foundation has donated over $8 million to youth charities that mirror the mentorship that The Keg has provided to so many young staff. Over the years, the Chairman's Award program has empowered Keg staff to direct more than $250,000 of that to charities that they support.

For Kelsey, the choice of charity was easy: she shared with us- “I was very lucky-but I know not every family is similar to my story. I believe every child should have the opportunity to play and grow as an individual in a sport setting. Children may learn their academics in school, but it’s on the soccer field or ice rink where children see the importance of goal setting, being a team player, and knowing there is no such word as “I can’t”.

Carpe Diem Kelsey! Congratulations, THANK YOU for choosing A4K, and all the very best in each and every one of your future endeavours!!!
