Since I grew up in a pool, my favorite athlete as a kid was Ian Thorpe. He was young (gorgeous) and extremely talented. Rooting for his comeback this summer!

My favorite athlete when I was a kid was, by far, Mary Lou Retton. She was the most incredible female gymnast of that time. I remember watching her take the gold medal in the Summer Olympics and was in awe of her abilities. She was so small in stature but exuded so much passion and energy….and had the most brightest smile. I was also in gymnastics at that time and I clearly recall when my mom bought me the exact same red, white and blue leotard as Mary Lou wore in the Olympics. I wore it for so long till it began to cut of my circulation. Mary Lou Retton was absolutely one hell of a woman.

Mariano Rivera. Growing up as a kid, Yankees and Red Sox games were always televised on ESPN in the Philippines. I’ve been a fan of him and the Yankees since.

Wayne Gretzky was my favourite athlete growing up! Hockey was always on in our household as a child and it still is now Athletics for Kids is such a great cause and I would love to be in the arena cheering on our team as well as Athletics for Kids!!!
