History
Athletics for Kids Financial Assistance (B.C.) Society, known as A4K, was the brainchild of North Shore resident Shane Collins. With the financial help of three like minded businessmen, including A4K Past-President and current A4K Director Craig Knapton, the charity was federally registered and established in 2002.
Following its official incorporation, fundraising quickly began in earnest with A4K’s first fundraising gala being held at Hollyburn Country Club in 2003. In its first two years as a charity, A4K provided funding that enabled 35 kids to participate in sports. More recently, in 2009 & 2010, A4K assisted an average of 350 kids per year. A4K continues to grow and thrive and through its history has helped over 1500 B.C. kids get active in sporting activities.
