A4K Athlete of the Month- Reagyn Shattock

A4K is excited to kick off the 2017 year with our amazing Athlete of the Month, #13, Reagyn Shattock!! Reagyn began in ringette at just 4 years old! By the time she was 6 she was skating with the best of them in the boys league at Kelowna Minor Hockey. It has not always been easy for Reagyn with various injuries and setbacks keeping her from the sport she loves but she has never let those hold her back! She has persevered, worked hard, and remained incredibly passionate about hockey (and soccer)! Her mother had this to say about Reagyn’s experiences with hockey, “I have watched with extreme pride over the years…Hockey has provided her with awesome long time friendships (memories that are irreplaceable), leadership aspirations, team orientated life skills, and giving back to the sport by volunteering to help younger kids find the same love for the sport, and most important her passion and love for her sports has never changed, no matter what obstacle has come her way”.

Reagyn’s coaches were more than willing to share how proud they were of Reagyn as well saying, “Reagyn is a multiple-sport athlete- balancing her commitment to soccer and hockey can be challenging but she succeeds at doing so quite well. She is also very goal oriented. She has discussed her desire to pursue an athletic scholarship. I have no doubt that she will not only achieve great things in hockey, but also use the sport as a vehicle for other valuable life experiences”.

Reagyn has had great success in hockey being selected for the Thompson Okanagan Lakers Female Midget AAA Program, but she remains humble about how much she has achieved in her time playing hockey. She had this to say “I have played hockey and soccer for about 13 years, simply because I love my sports. It has brought me great experiences and chances to travel to different places in Canada. I have made a lot of great friends, had great coaches and hope to go to University on a scholarship.”

Here at A4K we have no doubt that through Reagyn’s passion, commitment, and hard work she will achieve her goal! She is a true role model for all female athletes out there and we are incredibly proud to have her as our January Athlete of the Month! Congratulations Reagyn!!!!
