The ancient Greeks were the first to promote the healthy relationship between mind and body. And now, a few thousand years later, a North Shore non-profit foundation is doing the same.
Athletics for Kids (A4K), a three-year-old society dedicated to providing support to North Shore children who want to play amateur sport but do not have the financial means, has announced the establishment of a new post-secondary scholarship program.
“We started the foundation because we wanted to give these kids an opportunity to go as far as they can athletically,” explained A4K president Shane Collins. “So it only made sense that we establish a program to provide them a chance to go just as far academically.” Students with a minimum of a three years of A4K support are eligible to apply for the new scholarship.
To date, A4K has helped dozens of North Shore kids play amateur hockey, soccer, gymnastics and other sports.
